Did you know that making granola at home is actually very easy to do? The best part, you get to control which ingredients go into it! Check out this super simple recipe:
Homemade Granola
Ingredients
- 4 cups of old fashioned oats
- 1 1/2 cups of slivered almonds
- 1 cup of cranberries
- 1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds
- 1 tsp of cinnamon
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1/2 tsp of ground ginger
- 2 tsps of vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup of raw honey (use as little honey as you would like, you can also use maple syrup)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Place your dry ingredients, minus the spices, into your bowl. (Note: you can save your dried fruit and add it in after cooking if you would like) Give it a mix.
- Next, add in your spices and mix to coat everything evenly. Pour in your olive oil and then the honey. Stir the oats until everything is mixed evenly and moist.
- Pour your oats onto a large baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake them for roughly 23 minutes, stirring them halfway. Pull them out once the edges just start to brown. Allow them to cool completely and then place them in an airtight container.
Notes
The great thing about granola is you can play with your ingredients. Don’t like almonds? Use pecans or cashews. Cranberries aren’t your thing? Use dried apricots or raisins. Have fun with it and create something you enjoy!
